5 amazing years of blogging!
I suddenly discovered last week that my blog reached its 5th birthday. Does that make me a blogging expert now?!
Writing news
My books did quite well in the Indie Author Summer Extravaganza last month, especially the free downloads of After the Burning. It did not reach #1 in the chart, but it was #9 in its category at one point, which is pretty good! Now if everyone who downloaded it could read and review, that would be fabulous… I am simultaneously and slowly working on two books, one of which I hope to release this year.
Blog news
I never anticipated, when I began my blog in 2018, that it would be such an important part of my online life and that it would have so many views! I have learnt a lot along the way and although the blogging landscape has changed since then (in my opinion), I still enjoy posting book reviews, opinion pieces, poems, etc. The 5th ‘blogiversary’ is an achievement I am proud of.

The archive
My very first blog post, on 2nd August 2018, was about those magical 6 weeks of the school summer holidays, in which I’d raid the teens’ section of the public library, max out my library card, cart the books home and read, read, read!

Mrs Narwhal’s Diary by S J Norbury, an amusing and absorbing novel published by Louise Walters Books, a one-woman company which has now ceased publishing.

Doctor Who… now on series 4! Still black and white, but with more stylish opening sequences and introducing the terrifying cybermen.

Liquid by Recoil (2000). I’m a big fan of the Recoil albums and intend to blog about them sometime. It’s a brilliantly-produced album, somewhat of an acquired taste.
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading - see you next time!
